Review: Evermore

Title : Evermore (The Immortals #1)
Author: Alyson Noel
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Goodreads | Amazon

Description (taken from Goodreads):
Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch.   Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste…
Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition.  He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets.  Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head.  She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is.

Review:

This was one of those books that I opened up and was immediately sucked in. I loved every minute of it! So much so that I had to go out and buy the second book as soon as I could (and I already have the third book too!). I'm not sure what took me so long to read it, really. I can't even tell you how glad I am that the fact that Alyson Noel is going to be here in a couple days for a signing finally made me finally pick it up.

I love that the main character's name is Ever; I think it's unique and really fits her. I also connected to the fact that she used to live in Eugene Oregon (which is just a few hours south of me) and can appreciate how gorgeous a rainy day can be. A small detail overall, but one that really stuck me.

Damen was a great love interest. He was mysterious, and I never guessed what it was that made him different. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting! I hope to get to know him better in future books!

I still have lots of unanswered questions, but since this is part of a series, that is to be expected. I just hope that they're answered, because right now I feel like there's a lot I need to now. There are quite a few books in this series, which makes me happy! There is so much more left to this story. I can't wait!

I don't know what it was exactly that made me really love getting lost in this story. It was just one of those books that I didn't want to put down: Not because it was non-stop action, but more because it was mysterious and I just really enjoyed the storyline. Evermore just really clicked with me.

  1. I was so excited to see your review of this book in my reading list/feed/inbox. I'm almost finished 'Evermore' and have decided that I do like it (contrary to my first thoughts on the novel). I think I will go and purchase the second book when I'm done. Nice review :).
