Author Signing: Alyson Noel

Not only was I lucky enough to meet five fabulous authors during Dark Days of Supernatural (here you can see part one and part two), the next night I got to meet Alyson Noel! I know! Isn't that awesome? Yes. Yes, I do realize how lucky I am.

Alyson Noel - Signing June 9, 2011- Oregon

I decided to leave my house early so that I could get a decent seat, and I ended up being super early. I got there at 4:45, and the signing didn't start until 7:00! I guess I just got lucky because there was hardly any traffic.

I got to Powells bookstore, and I had to double check that I was even in the right place because they didn't have anything set up for it. They actually didn't set anything up until about an hour before! I thought that was kind of odd, but whatever.

Kristina (from My World of Books) was also there, and we snagged seats in the front row! Yay! While we waitied, I went and bought a copy of Everlasting because I couldn't resist having a signed copy (even though I don't even have the fourth and fifth books). Then I decided that I should buy a book to giveaway, so I went and bought a copy of Shadowland to giveaway to one of you guys! Details on that soon.

Her latest book, Everlasting, was just released. Isn't it gorgeous?

As always, you can click on the pictures to make them larger

Alyson was a little bit late, because she had lots of flight drama. I'm not sure all of what happened, but I do know that it involved a four hour layover and some destroyed luggage. I sure do appreciate that she flew all the way out here and put up with all of that for her fans! She wasn't all that late, and it was worth it.

As soon as she came in she told us all about herself and her new book. Everlasting is the sixth and final book in The Immortals series. There are two books that are a spin-off that feature Ever's dead little sister (don't worry! That's not a spoiler! You know that from the beginning of book one).

Alyson told us that she was sad to be done with this series, but that she is very excited for the book series she is working on. I'm pretty sure it was called the Soul Searchers series, or at least something similar. I really should take notes. I can't take notes and take pictures at the same time though!

Then she said she would skip over the reading from her book since she was late so that she could do some Q&A and then start the signing, but someone in the audience asked if she would mind still reading. I'm glad she did! Who doesn't want to hear the author read?? I even got a video of it! I think it came out pretty good!

This video CONTAINS SPOILERS! Please, only watch if you have read the first five books, or if you don't mind knowing what happens. I really hate spoilers, but I just had to hear her read. It was worth it. :)  This is the beginning of Chapter One:

After she read (which was awesome!), she answered some questions. She was fascinating to listen to! She told us all about her relationship with her editor, and about her new seven figure book deal (well, someone asked about it).

She is also talking to Summit (I think. They're the same people who made Twilight) about turning Evermore into a movie. Someone asked why some of the books are available in hardback and others not, and she told us that that was because of the publishers.

Also, the model on the first couple books came from stock photos (which is why North of Beautiful and Evermore both have the exact same photo on the cover:

After that, they decided to shoot their own model so that they wouldn't have a different book with the same cover all over again. Book two was already in the works, so their new model started at book three and continued until the sixth. The cover she has in her hands in this picture is the UK version, not that you can really see it:

She talked and laughed, and was just overall so fantastic. Really, I don't know what it was about her, but she is just as magnetic as her book was to me (I'm talking about Evermore. I'm reading book two right now). Plus, it was pretty awesome to combining two of my favorite things, books and photography! These pictures were much easier to take without the giant, bright window that I had at the Dark Days signing. Not that these weren't a challenge too!

Isn't she gorgeous?

After questions, she got out her bookmarks and stuff and started signing! She talked to us and asked us questions.

She gave us two different bookmarks and two different tattoos. If we had the book signed to someone else, she gave us some for that book, too! So, the book I have to giveaway will have them. Yay!

It was so fun! If you haven't read Evermore, do! You can read my review of it here. Basically, it was awesome!

Giveaway to come! Kristina at My World of Books is also doing a giveaway, so check her out!

Dark Days of Supernatural - Part One

I was extremely lucky to be able to go to Dark Days of Supernatural in Oregon this week. It was awesome!

Click on the pictures to see them bigger.

I got there pretty early, around 5:00p.m., and the front row was already taken. I was still able to get seating in the second row! Score! That's way better than my last signing, where I was stuck way behind the massive crowd (you can read about that signing here). It was at the Barnes and Noble in Clackamas:

They were up on the second story, right in front of the windows in the middle

The ladies that were at my stop of the tour were so sweet, fun, and totally entertaining! I got to see Tara Hudson, Ellen Schreiber, Aprilynne Pike, Amy Plum, and Veronica Roth!! I have lots of pictures to share with you!

They were announced and then they told us about their books. After that, the audience asked questions. I had a heck of a time trying to take pictures with that super bright window behind them! I could give you all the technical mumbo jumbo, but I know you just want to see the pictures. :)

All five of the wonderful authors
There were lots of great questions, but I don't really remember them all. Honestly, almost everything that was asked can be found on the author's blogs and websites, so I didn't take notes or anything.

They Talked and answered questions for about 45 minutes or so, and then they started signing!
They each had cute things they gave to us, too! Amy gave out yummy chocolate from France, Tara gave out bracelets, Aprilynne and Veronica gave out tattoos, and Ellen gave out little 3 musketeers and bookmark. I'll show you some of the stuff in part two of Dark Days - all except the chocolate. I ate that. :)

I think the authors all had a good time too!
Plus, I was able to meet Kristina, from My World of Books! It was awesome to finally meet her. We've been talking about this for months. She drove down from Washington:

I totally forgot to say hi to Vy and to Candace! I don't know how I let that slip my mind. Boo. :(

Overall, it was so fun. It was worth it to be super early and get a good seat. Plus, we got our books signed by row, so we didn't have to wait long at all.

I have more to show you! I'll try and have the pictures of the signatures and fun goodies I got in Part Two!

All pictures belong to me. Do not steal them. If you are an author or publisher, all you have to do is ask, and I will give you images without watermarks. :)

Holly Black and Cassandra Clare: My First Signing!

I went to my first signing!

A few other bloggers were there too! Vy of Vy's Blog was there. I didn't get to meet anyone, though. Maybe next time!

I got there at 6:30 and the space was already full (it started at 7:00). I figured that there would be a lot of people attending, but wow. There were so many people that I just waited in back and couldn't really hear what they were saying (and for some reason the people in front and behind me would not stop talking. Ugh.). I'm bummed about that, but oh well. Next time I know to show up super duper early and just read while I wait so that I can get a seat up front. They must have been funny, because people kept laughing!

You had to buy a book to get your book signed, so I bought City of Fallen Angels and Red Glove:

pretty, new books!

They each did a reading followed by a Q&A, and then we were lined up to get our books signed. At this event you had to buy a book from the authors in order to get your stuff signed. I don't think they really even kept track of that. I bought City of Fallen Angels and Red Glove. The people in seats got their books signed first, and then everyone else. The line was so long! Holy moly. I had to wait for over 2 hours I think, and I wasn't even towards the back of the line. I was sooooo tired of standing by the end.

It really was worth it, though!

I could tell that more people were there for Cassandra Clare than Holly Black. I think I was more excited to meet Holly (not that I wasn't excited about Cassandra too)! She signed 5 books for me! Yay! I didn't feel so bad holding up the line for that one because most people just wanted their Mortal Instruments books signed.

Cassandra Clare signed all of books for me too! I do feel guilty now for having her sign so many. It didn't take long at all, but I guess I should have limited myself. I just got too excited! Sorry, people who were behind me! I promise to limit myself last time. I have a super guilty conscience and I've felt bad all day. So there, my apology is out there, in the Universe. I am really excited that all of them are signed though! :)

Team Clary!

Both authors were so nice! I embarrassed myself by telling Holly Black that my cat puked on her books, and that's why I didn't have Tithe and Valiant there for her to sign. Dang cat. LOL! She made my day the next day by replying to my facebook post on her page:

Yes. Yes, I took a screenshot. :) I love when authors take the time to connect with their fans! I don't know if you can read it or not. LOL

I got a couple Curse Worker bracelets from Holly Black. I took one, but then my 3 year old (Charlotte) wanted one too, and Holly said we both could have one. How awesome is that?! I know there is no way my daughter would have let me keep my bracelet if she didn't have her own.

Luck Worker! This one is my daughter's. Mine says Memory worker, and is grey. I can't figure out where she put it. LOL.

Then Cassandra Clare had these little pamphlets with an excerpt from Clockwork Prince  on one side and an excerpt from Black Heart on the other. Ahhh! So awesome.

I can't wait for my next signing! I think it's going to be the Dark Days of Summer in June! I'm super stoked for that one.

Oh, and I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures at the event. Lame of me.
