<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Molengo; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">synopsis:</span><br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;">The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she's gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy's athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor.</span><br />
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;"> The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly...</span><br />
<br style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;" />
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;">In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight...</span></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Molengo; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">It's been a little while since I have picked up a book that I didn't want to put down, and Wallbanger was refreshingly un-put-down-able! </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Molengo; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">It was a slow, but delicious journey. I would definitely consider it a guilty read, but it didn't make me feel like I had just read something that left me feeling dirty. Not that I mind picking up that kind of book once in a while mind you, but this one was different. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Molengo; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Molengo;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">I just happened to stumble across Wallbanger on Amazon when I had a completely different book in mind. Hooray for happy accidents! I connected with Caroline, and loved Simon Parker. Throw in an awesome pet kitty, and I was hooked! </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Molengo;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Molengo;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">I can't recommend this book enough. Loved it! </span></span><br />

<br />
synopsis:<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<span id="freeText10124315857081861798">The new Abby Abernathy
is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate
percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough
distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives
at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly
challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand. <br /><br />Travis
Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby
needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a
floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus
charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her
into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain
abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s
apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea
that he has met his match.</span></div>
<br />
I'm torn. On one hand, I really liked the connection between Travis and Abby, and on the other hand, their relationship was a mess.<br />
<br />
There was a lot of drama in their relationship. There were so many times in this book that I was like "why are you doing this to yourselves?!". Really, so much of the suffering could have been easily avoided if they were just more honest with each other. Sure, everyone keeps secrets, but why does it happen so often in novels?<br />
<br />
All that aside, Beautiful Disaster was a great guilty read. I really liked their connection, especially when things were going well. Abby and Travis had great chemistry, which is probably why I've seen so many others rave about it. I thought the storyline was really good, and I liked that I had no idea where the story was going. <br />
<br />
I've seen that there is a new book coming out from his point of view, which could be interesting!<br />
<br />
I'd recommend this book to people who liked Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray; Jamie has tapped into that connection that's all consuming when you read it.<br />

<br />Not bad! I really tried to read a bit more than usual, and it helped to have the read-a-thon to push me. It's been hard to read as much since having baby #2. I'm determined to reach my goal of 75 books this year though! I didn't have that much time to go on twitter or meet other bloggers this time. I'm a bit disappointed, but I knew that would be hard.<br />
<br />
<b>Til next time! </b>Jennifer Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06902405368408089472noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4583955842123504021.post-51260820981523371532012-10-18T12:02:00.003-07:002012-10-18T12:02:36.523-07:00Just a little update! Hey my fellow book lovers! :)<br />
<br />
I know I haven't been around so much lately, but it's not for a lack of wanting to be! Sometimes it's just a bit hard to update as much as I'd like. Here's why:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5E3B-MoR2wbWh6_xl6smdEeCHxC0IAM8RbJXfwcOQ7N13hFIrUqZOlq0j0ar0-4p7R61lUgaB5u5ywiY_o6g1lc-bFsJgxd2aHAAur3fB1geZVy1n4_qNAT0xNk-u6WRpJ7wM1Z-qM-4/s1600/Sep+21+2012_1666.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5E3B-MoR2wbWh6_xl6smdEeCHxC0IAM8RbJXfwcOQ7N13hFIrUqZOlq0j0ar0-4p7R61lUgaB5u5ywiY_o6g1lc-bFsJgxd2aHAAur3fB1geZVy1n4_qNAT0xNk-u6WRpJ7wM1Z-qM-4/s640/Sep+21+2012_1666.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Yep, it's because my kids keep me busy! Mostly it's the little guy, what with being a baby and all. So when I do finally get a little free time, I usually read! I'll try to update with a couple reviews ASAP though.<br />
<br />

What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles #1)<br />
Kat Zhang<br />
<a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11043618-what-s-left-of-me" target="_blank">Goodreads</a><br />
<br />
<u>Synopsis:</u><br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3; text-align: left;">
<i><span id="freeText12424112660192841885">Eva and Addie started
out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body,
taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk,
how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried
whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The
doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged
for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared
gone. Except, she wasn’t…<br /><br />For the past three years, Eva has
clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there,
trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a
way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable–hybrids are
considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva
will be locked away with the others. And yet…for a chance to smile, to
twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.</span></i></div>
<br />
What a synopsis! Two souls in one body? Amazing cover? Yep, as soon as I saw What's Left of Me, I knew I just had to read it. <span style="background-color: white;">I wasn't disappointed! I loved this book.</span><br />
<br />
Everyone in What's Left of Me is born with two souls - one dominant, one recessive. As a person grows, the dominant soul takes over and the recessive fades away, forever. That's not what happens to Addie and Eva. They have to pretend that Addie is the only one left so that they fit in and don't get sent away to get "fixed".<br />
<br />
The whole idea is just crazy to me! It makes me uncomfortable and kind of makes me want to squirm. I thought going into this story that I wouldn't like the main character having two souls in her body, but I was wrong. I grew to love Eva, and sympathize with Addie. I liked the way the story developed, too; I wasn't expecting it to go the way it did. <br />
<br />
I loved What's Left of Me so much that I had to email the author and just let her know how much I enjoyed it! That's a new one for me. I've never emailed an author to do that.... and she even replied! Authors rock! <br />
<br />
I absolutely love the cover for this book. I am dying to see it in person! I hope it looks just as good printed out so that I can put a copy of it on my bookshelves!! <br />

synopsis:<br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<span id="freeText5218830685617181557">Deborah Harkness exploded onto the literary scene with her debut novel, <i>A Discovery of Witches</i>, Book One of the magical <i>All Souls Trilogy</i>
and an international publishing phenomenon. The novel introduced Diana
Bishop, Oxford scholar and reluctant witch, and the handsome geneticist
and vampire Matthew Clairmont; together they found themselves at the
center of a supernatural battle over an enchanted manuscript known as
Ashmole 782.<br /><br />Now, picking up from <i>A Discovery of Witches’</i> cliffhanger ending, <i>Shadow of Night</i>
plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies,
subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious
School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh.
Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced
to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of
Ashmole 782 deepens.<br /><br />Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping
journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical
discoveries, delivering one of the most hotly anticipated novels of the
season.</span></div>
<br />
A Discovery Of Witches (the first book in this series) left me a bit torn. I liked it, but wasn't sure how I felt about the story overall. As I said in my review (which you can read <a href="http://littleshelf.blogspot.com/2012/03/review-discovery-of-witches.html" target="_blank">here</a>), I was going to give the second book a try to see how I felt about the series. Well...<br />
<br />
I loved Shadow of Night! I thought it was just awesome; It definitely exceeded my expectations.<br />
<br />
<b style="color: #660000;">WARNING</b>: there are kinda spoilers from the first book, so don't read any further if you haven't read it yet. There won't be spoilers for book two.<br />
<br />
I'm not much of a history buff, but the trip back to the past was so enthralling! Diana is a witch, and she goes back to a time when witch hunts were becoming commonplace. It was so suspenseful! I didn't think that I'd like that aspect of the book so much, but it kept me turning the pages! This is kind of a long book, but it didn't feel like it at all; I read it pretty quickly! <br />
<br />
When I read the first book, I wasn't sure how I felt about Matthew, Diana's vampire husband. I'm glad to say that I like him much more now, even though he's still far from perfect. I think their relationship really changed for the better in this book.<br />
<br />
You know, I'm not really much for historical stuff, but this one was so fascinating to me. I guess I liked the paranormal aspect added in.<br />
<br />
I'd definitely recommend this series! I can't wait for the next book!<br />

Why?<br />
<br />
Because she took on the task of writing out a gut-wrenching tale of a young girl facing life after family are all taken from her suddenly in a car accident, and totally rocked it. Rockstar, rocked it... get it? I'm such a nerd. Anyways...<br />
<br />
I've never had the opportunity to meet her in person (someday!), but I did win an Advanced Review Copy of The Beginning of After from her! She was so nice when she emailed me, and she personalized and signed the book too! I love when authors reach out to their audience and seem like genuinely really awesome and nice people.<br />
<br />
Jennifer's so much of a rockstar that her editor has offered her a deal for two more books, and they aren't even written yet (see <a href="http://blog.jennifercastle.com/?p=652" target="_blank">her blog post</a> about it). Rock on, Jennifer!<br />

crappy happen to them will tell you: It's all about Before and After".
What has been the biggest difference between <i>your</i> before and
after?</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">You know what's funny? The answer to that question
has changed a few times, for me. If you'd asked me in the months after the
accident, I would have had a very different response, and I'm sure if you ask
me in a year I'd have another one. But today, in the place I am right now, I'll
say this: in my before, I was so embedded in the way things were, the way I
thought they'd always be, that I thought my life would be pretty much over if I
lost the people I love most. In my after, though, I understand that even when
terrible things happen, the world is still full of joyful possibilities and
incredibly cool people. I understand that I am stronger than I ever gave myself
credit for. I can really see that difference and it's one thing I'm really glad
for.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<b><br style="color: #3d85c6;" /><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Such a great answer. It's great that you can see the good in life still. I've heard that having animals around can be good for you if you're sick or going through something difficult. Have your kitties helped you heal?</span></b><br />

don't see me any differently than they always have. They've got those piercing
eyes that are so, so clear -- clear of judging or pity. I love that they don't
understand how the circumstances of my life have changed. To them, I am still <i>me</i>,
and being reminded that I'm still me...well, that keeps me breathing past the
bad moments, when they come. Also, having animals around forces you to reach
outside of yourself, even if it's just to pour some dry food in a bowl or
stroke a soft furry tummy. It's important to be responsible for something else,
although to be honest, I often feel like they are the ones here to protect
me. </span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Ah, I love that question! Definitely not be a
weeping willow. That's totally cliche and besides, wouldn't it hurt to be bent
over like that all the time? No, I would be an oak. I would spread myself wide
and thick and solid over the people I care about. I would have graceful curves
and big floppy leaves and just be the kind of tree people want to hang around,
because I make them feel like <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=4583955842123504021" name="_GoBack"></a>they're home.</span></div>

<b>Ok, one last question: What's the one song you love to belt out and dance around to
when no one's watching?</b></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Oh, God. I guess I should be honest here. At first I
was going to say something like "Set Fire To The Rain" by Adele,
which is a respectable, un-embarrassing song to shout and shake your head to,
especially in the car. But, argh. I cannot tell a lie. Sometimes I just have to
channel Danny and Sandy and "Grease" because we did that musical at
school my freshman year and I helped paint the sets. I know every song by
heart. I sing "Summer Lovin'" in my bedroom at the top of my lungs,
and yeah, I do the voices and everything, and I refuse to be ashamed!</span></div>

<b><u>Synopsis:</u></b><br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<i><span id="freeText4432146637253517777">After serving out a year
of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old
assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince
Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his
champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.<br /><br />Her
opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the
empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats
her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for
three years and then be granted her freedom.<br /><br />Celaena finds her
training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging
and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a
little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in
her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her
best.<br /><br />Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly
followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she
becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads
her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.</span></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: #cfe2f3; clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Raving reviews for this book have been aplenty, but I'm not sure I share their enthusiasm. I thought this book was really good, but I think there may be a bit too much hype around it, and that always leads to disappointment. For me, it wasn't EPIC, but I did really enjoy it. <br />
<br />
The storyline was pretty good, and I think most people will enjoy it. I wish there would have been more of the assassin thing going on though. I'm not necessarily one who likes fighting or conflict, but I would have liked to see more of what makes her so amazing. Maybe a bit more of her backstory? I did like the trials and the fact that she was doing all this to try an escape an almost impossible situation though.<br />
<br />
It was very reminiscent of Poison Study and Grave Mercy. I think if
you liked those books, I definitely recommend picking up this book!
Celaena is such a strong character.She has her flaws just like anyone,
and I think that made her a bit more realistic. I liked that she was
tough, but also a bit girly too. Who says you have to be all rough and
dirty to be a strong character? Not that Celaena is afraid to get dirty,
mind you. The other characters were great, too. I loved who her love interests
were, and who she meets and befriends along the way. Her enemies were
really easy to dislike as well. <br />
<br />
<br />
One last thing I have to mention: the cover. I just don't think it fits this story very well. It's definitely pretty, but there is just something I just don't like about it for this story. The UK cover fits it much better, in my opinion:<br />

<i><span id="freeText3439502376239347821">A richly inventive novel
about a centuries-old vampire, a spellbound witch, and the mysterious
manuscript that draws them together.<br /><br />Deep in the stacks of
Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls
up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research.
Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants
nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes,
she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a
fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and
vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a
coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can
break its spell.</span></i></div>

<br />
synopsis:<br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<span id="freeText10228290918421161957">Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . .<br /><br />ANGEL EYES<br /><br />Brielle’s
a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy
instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with
her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t
seem to shake.<br /><br />Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.<br /><br />Something
more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of
them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels
stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than
Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a
realm where all human choices start.<br /><br />A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.</span></div>
<br />
There were things I liked and there were things I didn't like about this book.<br />
<br />
I love this cover! There's just something about it that draws me
in. I think the colors are awesome. Mixed with the glow-y font and
mysterious wooded area, it all jut makes it seem so eerie.<br />
<br />
I find stories with angels in them fascinating. The ethereal aspects in Angel Eyes were really neat. I feel like there could be more of it, but since it's a series, I guess I wouldn't fault it for not having enough. Hopefully there will be more in the coming books. <br />
<br />
I also really liked the love story. I thought Jake was really, really sweet! He just might be my favorite character in the whole book.<br />
<br />
Her best friend died, and I can see how that made her feel like she was responsible, but it still felt like a bit much. I don't know... something was just off. I didn't like how that part of the story progressed. It really bothered me for some reason. It wasn't enough to make me dislike the book, but I'm not sure I'm going to read the rest of the series.Jennifer Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06902405368408089472noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4583955842123504021.post-50786772281520528722012-08-04T00:00:00.000-07:002012-08-04T00:00:01.762-07:00Stacking the Shelves<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Random Acts of Kindness is a program hosted by Isalys and Vanessa over at <a href="http://booksoulmates.blogspot.com/2011/06/random-acts-of-kindness-june-closing.html">Book Soulmates</a>.
You pick a person or two (or however many you want) and send them
something from their wishlist. Someone might send you something, too!<br />
<br />
<br />
I sent off one book for RAK this month to another reader:<br />
<br />

I didn't get anything for RAK in July. Maybe in August! :)<br />

<br />
<u>from goodreads:</u><br />
<br />
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<i><span id="freeText12478009739083794551">It’s been six weeks
since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world.
Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night.
When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her
seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.<br /><br />Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.<br /><br />Raffe
is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of
fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a
desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.<br /><br />Traveling
through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each
other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’
stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her
sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for
the chance to be made whole again.</span></i></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This book was fantastic! I saw lots of other people recommending it, so I gave it a try. Wow! So, so good. It was self published, too (which means you can find it cheap for your e-reader!). </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The only downside is that the second book in the series won't be out until sometime in 2013. If it's anywhere near as good as this one it will totally be worth the wait! </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I read very few books written by male authors. I think I just generally connect better with female protagonists, and those are usually written by, well, females. I've already recommended John Green a couple times, so I thought I'd go with someone different. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This book has a pretty neat storyline to it. There's a part in it where Karsten tells us the history of all the other major characters in the book. Each person was totally different, and I loved reading about them... I guess it gave a way to connect to them on a deeper level. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Plus, this book has one of my favorite book covers of all time; I just LOVE it. </span><br />Jennifer Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06902405368408089472noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4583955842123504021.post-44018170273155151412012-07-14T00:00:00.000-07:002012-07-14T00:00:07.320-07:00Stacking The Shelves<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">
<span id="freeText15862058615695256050">In the Community, there
is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity
clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from
the Link network.<br /><br />When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”),
she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any
anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a
secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her
glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.<br /><br />As Zoe
struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other
glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien,
who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that
are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a
way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community
before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.<br /><br />In this action-packed debut, <i>Glitch</i> begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.</span></div>
<br />
I think this cover is so neat! I hope they do something cool with it in the finished version... like make it shimmery or foiled. <br />
<br />
It took me a while to write this review. I would open up blogger and just stare at the screen. What did I think? What did I want to say?? Ahhhh!! <br />
<br />
I'm glad I waited a while to let it kind of sit with me because I've discovered that I really liked it! Many of the dystopians I've read in the past year or so start out with a young character who is about to be changed or placed into something that molds them into the "ideal" person, where in this book the people are already programmed. Zoe, the main character, starts to glitch and discovers her own thoughts and feelings.<br />
<br />
I really liked discovering things through Zoe. I can't imagine what it would feel like going from kind of numb to the world around you, to getting slammed with your own thoughts and feelings suddenly!<br />
<br />
I have to agree with other reviews and say that the insta-love was kinda annoying. The little twist after the insta-love moment that kind of made it better for me. Actually, there were lots of little twists in this story that I wasn't expecting, and I loved that. <br />
<br />
Glitch was a good read! It didn't blow me away, but it will definitely stick with me. I am looking forward to the second book! <br />
<br />

family of Curse Workers - people who have the power to change your
emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their
hands. And since curse work is illegal, they're all criminals. Many
become mobsters and con artists. But not Cassel. He hasn't got magic, so
he's an outsider, the striaght kid in a crooked family. You just have
to ignore one small detail - he killed his best friend, Lila, three
years ago.<br /><br />Cassel has carefully built up a facade of normalcy,
blending into the crowd. But his facade starts to crumble when he finds
himself sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams
about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He's noticing other
disturbing things too, including the strange behavior of his two
brothers. They are keeping secrets from him. As Cassel begins to suspect
he's part of a huge con game, he must unravel his past and his
memories. To find out the truth, Cassel will have to outcon the conmen. </span></i><br />

Hello my book loving friends! Hope you got some good ooks this week. I did! I actually went to the Powells downtown (and ended up spending 12 freaking dollars on parking, ugh!).
