Recommend A… book with a green cover

This one was a it tough because I don't think I've read too many books with a green cover! I decided to go with this one though:

Matched (Matched #1) | Allie Condie

from goodreads:

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

I read this one before I started blogging, so I don't think I've ever talked about it on here. I really loved this book! Allie Condie has a unique way with words that kept me turning page after page. I couldn't put it down! I haven't read Crossed yet, although I'm not sure why; I loved Matched! I think the cover is gorgeous, too.

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga. It's a fun way for us to show what books we got this week to add to our shelves!

So why do this meme instead of In My Mailbox? Well, I'm not against the Story Siren; I think it has more to do with the fact that I don't really like drama. So for now I'm going to try out Stacking the Shelves instead.

Anyways, on with what I got this week!  (I forgot a book the first time I posted, oops! Added it)

I got this one for review! I'm pretty excited about it. I can't wait to see how it all goes down! Another great cover too. Way better than the cover of the third book, in my opinion.

 Witch Song | Amber Argyle
This one was free on amazon! Yay for free.

Review: Hourglass

Hourglass
Myra McEntire
Egmont
Goodreads

That cover!! Isn't it so unique? I really love it... it's perfection.

You know how sometimes you build a book up in your head and you're afraid to read it because you don't want to be disappointed? Yeah. Hourglass was one of those books for me. I've actually had it sitting around here forever. I wish I had read it sooner!

I just loved this book! There was something about it that really struck the right chord with me. Is that how you write out that saying? Chord? Cord? I fail at English. Anyways, I really enjoyed Hourglass so much!

I really love Emerson's voice (she's the main character). I laughed along at her little jokes she would say here and there in her head. McEntire did a fabulous job with her! Emerson and I, we really clicked. She's kind of quirky... I love quirky and weird. I think we'd be great friends in real life.

The storyline was really neat too. I liked her love interest, and I liked the "ghosts" she sees. I didn't find the story predictable at all, and wanted to read more and more! I'd go into the plot more, but I don't want to ruin anything! If you haven't read this yet, I say you definitely should.

I'm now a fan of Myra McEntire. I've already read the next book in the series, Timepiece; Review for that one to come soon! Let's just say that I can't wait to read more by this author!

Fabulous.

Recommend A... book title with three words

I thought I'd try out a new meme! This one sounds kind of fun, especially since I can't always review every book I read. This might be a fun, new way to talk about books!

Recommend A… book with three words in the title

The Poison Diaries | Maryrose Wood

In the right dose, everything is a poison.

Jessamine has spent her whole life in a cottage close to her father's apothecary garden, surrounded by medicinal plants and herbs that could kill her -- although her father has never allowed her into the most dangerous part of the grounds... the poison garden.

She's never had reason to be afraid -- until now. Because now a newcomer has come to live with the family, a quiet but strangely attractive orphan boy named Weed. Though Weed doesn't say much in words, he has an instant talent for the apothecary's trade, seeming to possess a close bond with the plants of the garden.

Soon, he and Jessamine also share a close bond. But little does Jessamine know that passion can be just as poisonous as the deadliest plants in the garden -- for behind Weed's instinctive way in the garden is a terrible secret.

This book was so different! I really enjoyed the way Wood wrote, and the storyline was so unique! I really love the cover too. This is definitely worth a try if you're looking for something off the beaten path.

In My Mailbox ~ May 20, 2012

Hi fellow readers!! I know that I haven't been consistent with the blogging, and I apologize! I've had less time lately for blogging... it all depends on my kiddos! This week was an exhausting one. :P Someday I'll get the chance to vlog again.

Anyways, time for In My Mailbox! This is what I've gotten in the past few weeks:

I got a couple for review:

This isn't my normal read, but it's sounds sooo good! I'm gonna have to pick this up when I'm in the mood for something deep. I have a feeling I might cry with this one.

Wilde's Fire (Darkness Falls Book One) | Krystal Wade
This one sounds like it could be amazing! I really like the cover too... especially when you look at it big!

I went out on Mother's Day and picked myself a couple books too:

I got a signed copy!! I wasn't able to go to her signing, but they still had some signed ones for sale so I picked it up! I just LOVE this cover.

I found a used copy in perfect condition! Yay! I've been meaning to pick this one up for a very long time. I loved The Immortal Rules, so I have high hopes for this series! Woohoo for fae!

That's it for me!

Read-a-thon!

Yep, I'm finally participating in a read-a-thon! It's hosted by Bout of Books Read-a-thon:

It's taking place this week, and it's low pressure. It started Monday the 15th and lasts until the end of Sunday the 20th. I'm excited! The goal is just to read more than you normally would in a week. I can't do a read-a-thon where we read for 24 hours straight or anything because I have a baby and a four year old at home that kind of count on me for their well being, so this is perfect!

So far I've already finished one book! I was able to read a lot on our drive to the beach yesterday. Yay! I finished Hourglass by Myra McEntire. It was so good! Now I'm moving on to book #2. :)

UPDATE:

So, I was able to read one and a half books, and for the week I've had, I would say that's pretty good! Gosh, sometimes kids sure can be hard to take care of! Ha! I am exhausted. But, I'm still glad I participated because I found some new bookish peeps to follow on twitter! The twitter chats are so fun, and I'm glad I got to participate.

During the read-a-thon I finished the second half of Hourglass by Myra McEntire, and then read all of Timepiece. I am really digging this series!! Review of both to come soon I hope!
